Chair of Electronic Commerce

We pursue the idea of data-driven marketing and sales (also referred to as MarTech and SalesTech) and conduct research projects in the areas of electronic commerce (especially Amazon Market Place), online marketing (in particular programmatic advertising, real-time bidding and pricing), marketing analytics (including machine learning), the evaluation of the economic impact of more online consumer privacy (especially via the acquired ERC-Grant on „Economic Consequences of Restrictions on the Usage of Cookies“) and value-based customer management (Customer Lifetime Values, Customer Equity, Customer-Based Corporate Valuation (CBCV)). Doing so, we often work with very large data sets ("Big Data").

We collaborate in our research projects with companies (e.g. ING, Sistrix, BASF, Marini Systems), international colleagues, e.g. from the Wharton School (USA), University of North Carolina (USA), Boston University (USA), Deakin University (AUS), ESADE Business School (ESP), University of Groningen (NLD), Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (AUT) and Warwick Business School (GBR), and national colleagues, e.g., from LMU Munich, Technical University Darmstadt, University of Cologne and of course Goethe University Frankfurt.

In addition, in the efl-The Data Science Institut we work together with colleagues from computer science, information systems and finance.

We are always pleased about the interest of companies to pursue exciting projects and the interest of doctoral and post-doctoral students to work on such projects in a stimulating and pleasant working environment.
