About me

Since October 2011, Christian Schlereth is holding the Assistant Professor position in Marketing and Electronic Services at the Goethe University Frankfurt. Prior to April 2006 he studied at the Technical University Darmstadt information systems with a focus on project management and software engineering. In March 2010, he completed his Ph.D. at the Chair of Electronic Commerce of the Goethe University Frankfurt.

His dissertation has been awarded four times: with the Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award, the HORIZONT dissertation award and the 3rd place of the best dissertation award by the German Marketing Association. He is also the winner of the honorable Schmalenbach prize.

His research addresses practical issues related to pricing, especially in the context of Internet-based services (e.g., cloud computing). Special emphasis is put on how to employ various pricing techniques for services and the development of empirical methods to measure consumer preferences, for example by using discrete choice experiments. He also developed the survey software DISE, which has been used in over 100 studies by universities and companies across Europe.

From 2008-2011 he led two sub-projects of the BMBF-funded project Premium Services. In 2009, he was elected as the Consortium Fellow of the Goethe University Frankfurt for the 44th American Marketing Association (AMA) Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium. In 2010 he received a research grant from the German Research Foundation. In 2009 and 2011, he spent 4 and 7 months as a visiting fellow at CenSoC - the Centre for the Study of Choice at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Christian Schlereth’s research has been published or is forthcoming in journals like International Journal of Research in Marketing (IJRM), Journal of Service Research (JSR), European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR), Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI), Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE), Schmalenbachs Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung (zfbf), and in a number of proceedings (e.g., ECIS, EMAC, WI, ANZMAC).
