Rene Laub joined the Chair of Electronic Commerce a research assistant in April 2018. He received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in Economics from Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg. In his studies, he focused on empirical economic research and behavioral economics.

Rene gained experience aboard during stays at the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and the University of California, Berkeley. Throughout his studies, he gained practical experience at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim, KfW IPEX Bank in Frankfurt am Main and Ramboll Management Consulting in Hamburg.

Following his studies, Rene Laub started his professional career as a consultant at Commerz Business Consulting, the Inhouse Consulting of Commerzbank AG. His last position was as Senior Consultant, working in agile projects on  the creation and evaluation of digital business models and end-to-end process optimization and digitalization.

His research focuses on topics in digital marketing, in particular consumer privacy, marketing automation & marketing processes and customer experience & customer journeys.
